My Life with His Majesty the King came to existence as a gift to show our gratitude to His Majesty the King "Bhumipol Adulyadej", to speak our mind in how we feel about His Majesty and how we, the people, have received and experienced the mercy given by His Majesty. The idea is to bring to the world the stories and moments that made His Majesty not only a great monarch but also a highly revered and widely loved person. A kind of heart to heart - this is My Life with His Majesty the King.
Thinking about how to enable the as many people as possible to speak and to spread their words to the world, the answer was using technology: "www.mylifewithhismajestytheking.com".
By using the strength and creativity within the combination of technology and the human mind, we created a template based online writing and messaging tool which even people with little online experience are able to use. We actually hope that some people might enjoy this way of spreading their thoughts, and will start to use the internet in a more beneficial way after learning this about this feature.
Hence people can write their very own and very personal story here online either by themselves or we go and interview them and bring their personal story online.
Thus we can collect new perspectives, new impressions about His Majesty?s work over the last 60 years. From perspectives which are new to all of us at times, as we met people who have met His Majesty from the early days of his reign up to now in many different situations.
Let us show to you what we mean by telling you one of our stories:
"Is there really a lack of water here?" by Uncle Chuan:
Uncle Chuan recalls his memory when HM the King proceeded to Huay Sai in the year 1978. He has been waiting to welcome HM the King as everyone else. "That time my eldest son was just one year old, now he is almost 26 years." HM the King passed by and then turned back only to ask one question: "Is there really a lack of water here?" "Yes! Sometime we have to go to the water place in the afternoon and we have to line up in a queue until the early morning to get water" Uncle Chuan answered to HM the King. "What exactly HM the King said after that I can not remember, it's many many years ago. But it was shortly after that that the dam and reservoir construction began." Just only this one question, asked by HM the King, shows his true intention to create a better life and how much he truly cares for his people. The Royal Project which HM initiated in Huay Sai makes a real difference to many people now, including Uncle Chuan as well. "In the past we had a lack of water. Our life depended on rain alone. But now, whether it rains or not, we have water all the year round!" Uncle Chuan says.
This is one of those stories that describe the work His Majesty, which he has done over the last six decades so many times. It tells the story in the words of Uncle Chuan with this certain power we believe only someone knows, who felt the strength of the actions of His Majesty in person. His own true words, full of meaning if you think about it twice.
Its actually history in the making retold by the eye witness, and so we go out and try to find all those little moments and bring them back to you.
We travel many places, we meet a variety of people from Bangkok to the up country areas and even while farmers are working on the field, they are willing to tell their story to our volunteers, who then will start recording their story on tape.
Once the interview sessions are done, sometimes this might take several days, we return to Bangkok. Here the stories will be transcribed, the pictures we took and often we receive old pictures by the courtesy of the people we met, some of them showing His Majesty in the described moment itself, will be prepared and an online article will be created ? often in Thai as well as in English. Now the story is ready to be published online.
Once the interview sessions are done, sometimes this might take several days, we return to Bangkok. Here the stories will be transcribed, the pictures we took, and often we are lucky to receive old and very rare pictures by the courtesy of the people we meet, some of them showing His Majesty in the described moment itself, will be prepared and an online article will be created ? often in Thai and as well in English. Now the story is ready to be published online for you to read.
It?s a dedicated work, to bring a story from the land in Isarn to the world online. So this project lives by the input and the hard work of our self-motivated volunteers as well as the courtesy of our sponsors.
And they keep going to find more stories and more people that would like to share one of their most important moments in life with all of us, to help us to paint the picture of the life and dedication of His Majesty, Bhumipol Adulyadej, King of Thailand.
So we hope you can enjoy some of these stories as much as we do, and if you like to join the team, you are always welcome - either as a volunteer or a sponsor.
